PLANNED GIVING & ENDOWMENT

You can leave a legacy for a lifetime! Planned giving options include bequests, insurance policies, charitable lead trusts, charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, and beneficiary designations. We partner with the Vermont Community Foundation to manage our school’s endowment and planned giving program. These future-oriented ways to invest in our school provide lasting impact. When you are ready to consider a planned gift, please contact Lindsay Francescutti at (802) 985-2827 ext. 271.

• Bequests: The simplest form of planned giving is through a bequest in your will. Bequests are exempt from estate taxation and allow for a much larger gift to be made than might be possible during your lifetime. A bequest can be property, a fixed dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after other recipients are named. Simply add this language to your will: “I give, devise, and bequeath $________ (or a percentage of your estate) to Lake Champlain Waldorf School, a non-profit organization based in Shelburne, Vermont.”

• Charitable Gift Annuity: When you establish a charitable gift annuity, you provide future support to Lake Champlain Waldorf School that will last for generations. In addition, you enjoy immediate income tax savings and a dependable fixed income for life, much of which may not be subject to income taxes. A CGA is a stable investment opportunity that can also satisfy your philanthropic priorities. Through the VCF you can purchase an annuity that will provide you with an annual income source for the duration of your lifetime. After that time, the annuity is gifted to Lake Champlain Waldorf School.

• Endowment: Contributions to Lake Champlain Waldorf School’s endowment, held at the Vermont Community Foundation, are there “forever.” A set percentage of the interest from the endowment is made available each year to benefit the school. Gifts to the endowment can be made at any time.

Annual Fund

The Annual Fund is a powerful bridge to fulfilling our highest needs. Comprising donations from our parents, alumni families, grandparents, Board members, Faculty, Staff, and community members who are passionate about making a difference, these annual unrestricted gifts sustain every part of our school.

The beauty of the Annual Fund lies in its extraordinary flexibility: it enables us to address the most pressing needs of the school and seize new opportunities as they arise.

Our goal this year is $200,000. Every dollar goes to work immediately, helping to cover the daily expenses of running our school. Give today.

Care Fund

Our Care Fund allows LCWS to ease some of the financial hazards of life for our faculty and staff. The Care Fund has provided emergency moving funds, childcare funds to teachers in need, supplemental professional development funds, cash bonuses and morale-boosting recognitions, gestures of sympathy or appreciation to those dealing with extraordinary events in their personal or professional lives, and additional coverage for unexpected medical expenses. If you’d like to make a donation to our Care Fund, please be sure to include a note about who or what inspired your donation.

Scholarship Fund

Scholarship funds are restricted gifts, and help our school make a Waldorf education possible for families regardless of their economic means. The Joshua Moore Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of Joshua, and supports families with young children. The Lark Fund was established in honor of retired Class Teacher Katherine Verman and supports families with grade school children. Gifts to either of these funds can be made any time! Give today.

Sponsorship & Advertising

Gain valuable exposure to the area-wide community while helping our school thrive. Sponsorships come in many sizes to fit a variety of budgets, and give you the chance to choose events that best align with your interests. Sponsorship levels range from $100 to $2,000 and Advertising levels range from $100 to $250.
