Volunteer
Volunteer support is essential to the success of our school. By offering your time, energy, and talent, you join a vibrant and fun community, model for your children the importance of service, and build lasting relationships with other parents. Become an even bigger part of your school by joining one of the following initiatives.
-
Volunteering in Your Child’s Class
Supporting your child’s teacher and class is a wonderful way to be involved in the school. Speak to your child’s teacher directly about his/her needs. Our teachers may need help during a celebration, on a field trip, or preparing for the class play.
-
Fundraising
LCWS is a non-profit organization. Each year, the Development Office organizes fundraising events including the Food & Friends Auction, Holiday Fair, and the Spring Gala. Parents enjoy volunteering for these events to support the school and get to know one another. Contact Lindsay Francescutti to learn more.
-
Enrollment & Outreach
Support our Admissions team by joining the Enrollment Committee, or volunteering to help organize and run Enrollment events including informational house parties, Open Houses, Visiting Mornings, Mayfest, Halloween, and the Life of the Child Conference. We have ongoing and one-time projects to fit your interests and availability. Contact Admission Director Amy Brennan to learn more.
-
Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is a vital component to the health of our school. We welcome those who are interested in serving to start by attending a Board of Trustees meeting. The Board meets the first Tuesday of the month at the High School campus on Bostwick Road.
-
Administrative Support
The administrative team always appreciates assistance from parent volunteers to help with mailings, data entry, and other day-to-day tasks. If spending time at the school and working in the office appeals to you, let the front office staff know.
Building and Grounds
Our Turtle Lane campus is situated on a 22-acre land preserve in Shelburne, protected by the Nature Conservancy. The two buildings located there, along with the High School campus on Bostwick Road in Shelburne, require regular maintenance and care. Our maintenance manager, Mike Doran, is a pleasure to work with. Contact Mike to get involved.
Parent Community Council
The goal of our Parent Community Council (PCC) is to hold and foster our school community through monthly meetings and “First Friday” coffee and tea gatherings on the first Friday of each month. This is a space to connect with other parents, administrators, and board members over what is happening in your child’s class and the larger school community. The PCC also organizes occasional contra dances, creates our magical Halloween experience for the children, and offers informative evenings around parenting, education, and various other topics.
Adult Community Choir
Join our outstanding choir, which performs at the Spring Gala each year and is run under the diligent eye of our Music Director, Steve Olson.
