Each year, eighth grade students work on a year-long project in which they explore an area of interest. The students each work with a mentor who guides them into forming a passion project. Snowshoes in Woodworking

The high school students have been making snowshoes with Woodworking Teacher Rob Palmer as the community engagement component of their Winter Main Lesson. Bread Day in the Sunflower Classroom

Chinese New Year Celebration

On Tuesday, the third grade class had a special celebration, complete with arts, learning the Chinese characters for the Year of the Tiger, delicious longevity noodles cooked and enjoyed outside, and a presentation about how the New Year is celebrated. Field Trip to the Maritime Museum

Fourth Grade Zoology Projects

The fourth grade is finishing a block on Zoology. Their wonder, curiosity, and love for our fellow creatures shine through each of the students’ projects. Fifth Grade Snowschool Field Trip

The fifth grade class adventured on a one-mile interactive snowshoe loop, stopping to spot animal tracks, identify different types of snowflakes, create a “human” tree that fended off invasive bugs, and learn about animal hibernation and camouflaging techniques. Fine Arts: Grades 11 and 12

Acrylic Painting and Independent Studio The students in grade eleven were introduced to acrylic paints to continue developing the painting skills they cultivated last year in the watercolor block. Acrylic paint offers the opportunity to work both with transparency and opacity. Working from their own photographs the students used familiar visual information as a starting point. Continue reading.
