The LCWS international program offers students from other countries the opportunity to live with a host family and study in the U.S. for part or all of their high school career.  We are looking for people within the greater community to build home and community support around these students when they attend LCWS. International students offer us the opportunity to learn about parts of the world where perhaps we’ve never been, while also supporting our school.

These are the ways you could be involved with growing our international program:

  1. Become a host family  (host families are offered a generous stipend for their commitment. See below)
  2. Identify friends or family who might want to become a host family
  3. Support a host family (spend time with an international student when the host family is unable)
  4. Identify students through your international and national connections who might be interested in living with a host family and attending our school.

Host families are provided a generous monthly stipend. In exchange, they are responsible for providing their student with meals (Steiner Diner lunch provided at school), a bedroom of their own, “parent” participation in school functions, transportation, as well as a caring and consistent home life.

If you would like to become a host family, know that any family configuration, size, age range and connection to LCWS could be a good match for a given student.  Host families will have consistent guidance and support from the school international program director before, during and after their experience. Prior to receiving a student match, a host family will complete an application, interview, family visit and background check.

Our family hosted four students who were from France, Australia, Germany and southern Vermont. The rewards were many, and I would enjoy talking with you about our experiences. Please contact me with your questions and for an application! Wendy Bratt.
