In this Human Anatomy block, we explored the form and function of our bodies. We learned about the Skeletal & Muscular Systems and were introduced to the Nervous System.

During this block, Dr. Heather Rice, a chiropractor, taught us about the nervous system and the brain. We also heard from Kirsten Rose, a massage therapist, who taught us about the healing power of touch and mindfulness, and the mind-body relationship.

Students worked to synthesize all the information and focused on how different body systems work together.

The central assignment of the block was that each student worked on an independent project that involved the writing of an essay on the anatomy of the hand.

As a final fun project, the students made body tattoos, drawing their underlying bones or muscles onto their skin. An artistic photograph was taken of their finished product before washing off their labors and all signs of what lies beneath their skin!
