I love watching my children play outdoors. Especially at school. One of my favorite memories is a day when I noticed my children, 1st and 3rd graders, playing knockout (the basketball game) with a large group of kids on the playground. Many of the kids, mostly boys, were older then my little girl and boy. But in classic Waldorf fashion, everyone was welcome to play regardless of age.
When it was my kids turn at the basket, I noticed everyone was shouting for them and cheering them on. Even the big kids knew their names!
They were gentle, kind and encouraging. My kids had the biggest smiles on their faces even when they got “knockout” of the game. That’s good sportsmanship. I was very proud to be in the Waldorf community that day. (Ani Anderson)
