We warmly welcome families to join our seasonally-inspired Parent & Child classes. Babies and toddlers and their parents and caregivers find nourishment and support in these weekly classes.
In each class, parents can share about the growth and changes in their children, learn games and songs, and discuss the joys and challenges of parenting, all in a welcoming, supportive environment. Readings are provided on a wide variety of parenting topics to deepen conversations, inspire reflection, and nourish family life. Classes are led by Early Childhood teacher Shari Carlson, an LCWS faculty member for fourteen years.
Parent Child Sessions make wonderful gifts for your loved ones who are expecting or have young children. We welcome you to purchase a session as a gift.
Moon Garden
NEWBORNS TO BEGINNING CRAWLERS WITH A CAREGIVER AND EXPECTANT PARENTS
So many changes are taking place in babies in the first year of life! In Moon Garden, parents share the joy of witnessing the babies strengthen their bodies and explore the world around them. Parents learn songs, rhymes, finger plays, and simple infant massage techniques that soothe during care times and strengthen the bond between parents and their child. Families share a simple snack and discuss a variety of parenting themes to support the parenting journey and their children’s healthy, joyful growth. Expectant parents are also welcome to register and attend as you look ahead to welcoming your newborn!
Star Garden
BEGINNING WALKERS TO AGE 24 MONTHS WITH A CAREGIVER
This class revels in movement as little ones begin to stack blocks, roll balls, balance their bodies, and encounter each other in new ways. We enjoy songs and lap games that support children’s developing language and movement skills. There is time to observe and learn through watching the children play and to ask questions and share insights in a supportive environment. A simple nourishing snack will be served.
Sun Garden
AGES 24 MONTHS AND OLDER WITH A CAREGIVER
Families find friendship and support as their little ones explore the world through play and imitation. Children fall in love with these rhythmic mornings of play, song, puppetry, meaningful work and community. They discover each other and the world: caring for dolls, cooking in the play kitchen, washing dishes, grinding grain and chopping apples. Seasonal crafts, toy making and outdoor walks are woven into our mornings, during which we prepare and enjoy a wholesome snack together. Parents learn the value and benefits of family rhythms and how to support their children as they begin to navigate new social situations. Time for observation and weekly parenting topics are woven into our weekly supportive time together.
